🎸 Skars & Stories – Bio
Skars & Stories is the brainchild of Canadian musician Kai, a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer whose career has spanned decades, continents, and genres. What began as private writing sessions quickly evolved into a deeply personal project that explores loss, resilience, and the human condition.
The debut single, “Devil in Disguise,” set the tone: a haunting blend of dark electronics and alternative rock textures, inspired by Kai’s personal battles with grief, addiction, and mental health. The song carries the weight of tragedy—including the loss of his father to suicide and friends to substance abuse—while offering connection through honesty and vulnerability.
With sonic influences from Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and Deftones, Skars & Stories pushes beyond the boundaries of traditional rock, weaving atmosphere with raw emotion. While currently a solo-driven project, Kai is shaping Skars & Stories into a full band experience, dedicated to telling unfiltered stories through powerful soundscapes.
This isn’t just music—it’s survival, reflection, and a shared space for those carrying scars of their own.
🎤 Kai – Artist Bio
Kai is a Canadian rock guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer best known for his ability to fuse hard rock intensity with emotional depth. With a career built on relentless creativity and powerful live performances, his journey has taken him from the clubs of Vancouver to the world’s largest stages.
Kai first broke out with Noise Therapy, who signed to A&M Records and recorded with legendary producer Bruce Fairbairn. The band toured extensively, including a six-week arena run across North America opening for Mötley Crüe. That tour introduced Kai to drummer Tommy Lee, who later invited him to contribute to Methods of Mayhem. As a member, Kai toured North America and Europe, performing at major festivals such as Glastonbury and Dynamo, and joining the 2000 Ozzfest lineup alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Pantera, Godsmack, Slipknot, and Disturbed.
After touring, Kai collaborated with Tommy Lee on his solo album Never a Dull Moment before returning to Noise Therapy to record Tension. Over the years, Kai has also written and recorded with Econoline Crush, Imonolith, and contributed to another Methods of Mayhem release, co-writing with artists including Skrillex and Chino Moreno (Deftones).
Beyond collaborations, Kai carved his own path with projects such as Citizens Unite before ultimately founding Skars & Stories—a solo project that reflects his most personal artistic vision to date.
From Vancouver clubs to international arenas, Kai’s story is one of evolution, resilience, and fearless artistry. His music continues to connect across borders and genres, carrying the same mission he’s held since the beginning: to create something honest, powerful, and unforgettable.
